I always liked the tokens in the Monopoly game. All the other games have plain old boring pegs, or cardboard "paper doll" tokens which bent too easily. The durability and variety of the Monopoly tokens made them more enduring. You could play the horse one game and the dog the next, unless someone else always snatched up their favorite. For Mom it was the horse, while Dad got the car. Every once in awhile I'd get the horse, but I got to choose from the others most of the time. I played them all, however I liked however some tokens were easier to move than others, so I used those more often. Our choices were: car, horse, iron, wheelbarrow, dog, thimble, hat, and shoe.
Since then, dozens of editions with as many different tokens have been …Read more >

I am a collector. I collect: gather, sort, store, appreciate . . . . . and occasionally resell.
Resellers rarely collect except to "stock up" for resale at a later date. I have nothing against resellers who honestly appreciate the value of what they are doing from a point of maintaining something cultural or significant. Those who merely search out and buy something collectable as cheaply as possible only to resell it as expensively as possible, degrade collecting and destroy the market for everyone who treasures the items they love and the process of attaining them.
My main focus, for over 30 years, has been toys and games. Board games are by far my greatest collecting passion. Among them, Monopoly is clearly my top priority. Of my 4,000 pl…Read more >

Y'all may have noticed the strange surge in activity in recent days; reason is simple; my PC's hard drive crashed and I almost lost a gazillion files... including a boondongle of files for pagebuilding on this wiki.
Yes. Those are real numbers.
So... I managed to save the hard drive (now it's an external drive) and its files (I did say "almost") and have decided to institute a contingency plan to A) save all the stuff I've done so far, B) feed this beast known as the Monopoly Wiki, C) make things manageable for me (I've heard rumours of something called "a life outside the internet"... ), I'll be building new pages one at a time in small, bite-sized blocks; creating a page with what I've got at hand and later fill it out and clean it up as data …Read more >
Well, if you read the last blog, you know that Hasbro put it out to a public decision which token would be eliminated from the game and which one would replace it.
The cat won (yay for me!) and the iron is () out.
The iron has been around (off and on) since 1935 and I'm sure some people will miss seeing it in new boxes, but if you really, really need one, it's still fairly easy to find older boxed sets or loose tokens in swap meets and thrift shops. Sure, a lot of people are going to go kinda crazy trying to get an iron, so... supply and demand...
Me? I still have a few and I'm going to keep having them... even if nobody actually chooses it...

Lo and behold the news that greeted me this morning as I was logging on to check my mail:
- Rest in pieces: Hasbro to replace a classic Monopoly game token
- By Chris Morris | Plugged In
- In many families, Monopoly fights start long before the property is purchased. Inevitably, every player wants the same playing piece.
- Well, it's time to stand up for your beloved old boot or Scottie dog or thimble, because Hasbro is aiming to get rid of it.
- The company has announced plans to upgrade Monopoly, which will include replacing one of the game's iconic tokens with a fancy new figurine.
- Even worse, Hasbro is making you decide which one will go. From now through Feb. 5, fans can vote to save their favorite token -- and which new one will take the place of th…

Well, Christmas is over, which has given me a small respite to post a new page on the Sonic the Hedgehog Collector's Edition, which purely by coincidence was added by another user to the list just yesterday.
Unfortunately, this was just a small respite; there is still a ton of work to do these holidays... so hopefully I'll be posting more pages soon.
Happy Holidays! May the peace brought by the Prophet Jesus - peace be upon him - warm your heart and soul!

Y'all know how they say "Variety is the spice of life"? Well just in case y'all haven't noticed; Monopoly is spicy.
No, seriously: I don't mean "spicy" as in "adding a bit of spicy flavour": I mean a full-blown, five-alarm, ghost-pepper habanero marinade on a pot of hot coals that would have even Adam Richman running for his life while begging for mercy!
There are a TON of Monopoly game variants! More than a ton... a KILOTON of variants; seriously; over a THOUSAND... and counting!
And being a card-carrying masochist, I'm out to catalogue them all; I'm funny that way.
It may take some time, but it will be a fun exploration of the fantastic world of Monopoly. Heck, if I'm still sane I might blog here about some of the things I find along the way…Read more >

They interrupted Jeopardy! AGAIN for THE SAME REASON AS TUESDAY! FOR THE LAST TIME NBC, I'VE HAD IT WITH YOU! Just because you want to show the president speaking doesn't mean I want to watch it! If anyone knows another station that shows Jeopardy, let me know, because I WILL NEVER WATCH ANYTHING ON NBC EVER AGAIN! Don't they realize that not everybody wants to listen to someone talk? Especially if that person happens to be the president of the United States? Just because he is doesn't mean I have to (or want to) listen to him! I just wanted to watch Jeopardy! Is that too much to ask? >:(Read more >
I was minding my own business, watching my favorite show, Jeopardy! Right in the middle of it, NBC puts out a "special news bulletin" and cuts Jeopardy off. Just because they say it involves the president doesn't mean I have to care (especially in these next 4-8 years)! I don't care about it! I just want to watch Jeopardy! Thanks a lot, NBC! I am NEVER watching your news, EVER! You stopped my Jeopardy, now you will pay... because I WILL NOT WATCH YOU! MUHAHAHA!
Seriously, show something I actually want to see next time you interrupt Jeopardy. Do you think I want to see the president? Do you think I even want to hear about him? The answer is NO. Get that through your thick craniums, NBC. All I wanted to do was watch my favorite (occasionally…Read more >
SNOW!!! TONS OF SNOW!!! WE REALLY HIT THE JACKPOT!!! I am not depressed at all! I haven't been all week! THIS IS GREAT! I also NINJA'D my little brother with a snowball. NINJA'D! Plus, I GOT OUT 3 HOURS EARLY IN SCHOOL TODAY! I AM NOT DEPRESSED IN THE LEAST!Read more >
I feel really depressed right now. I'm stuck with almost nothing to do, I've got a mobile due tomorrow, I don't have the supplies I need for it, I REALLY need to bring up my English grade a bit, and I ended up stuck in a depression loop:
1. I see my grade is low
2. I get a bit depressed and try to bring it up
3. I end up doing worse as the work gets much tougher to do
4. I get even more depressed
5. My work gets even worse and I get even more depressed
I hate it when that happens... I'm currently in number 3Read more >
I got Monopoly City yesterday. It is THE best edition I've seen so far. I had my friend Chris over and we played a game of it. He ended up going good at the beginning, then as I added buildings he hit a few high-rent districts (I was almost broke!), he lost a ton of cash and had to mortgage. Then he hit a district he probably couldn't pay off. I say "probably," because I didn't find out. HE RAGE QUIT! UN-FREAKIN'-BELIEVABLE! He swiped every building down and tossed his money at the bank! He even had the Monopoly Tower! He then proceeded to hurl some of the buildings in the direction of my head at fairly high (but non-harmful) velocity. And then he went on a Team-Killing spree in Star Wars: Battlefront. He thinks oddly occasionally. Note to…Read more >
This is kind of a boring vacation, but I love it. I just deleted everything I wrote on my first attempt at this message (it was a political rant), so... I'm out of ideas. I only have one thing to say:
- DO NOT JUDGE MY OPINIONS. JUST BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE DOESN'T MEAN I'M WRONG, BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE RIGHT EITHER. OK?
My first entry... alright, idk what to do. I did get the pages for Monopoly Deal done. Check 'em out! Plus, the wiki got a fairly big influx of images (most had to do with Deal). OK, i guess i'm done. Chemistry is a killer, but Latin is the best class I've ever taken. Forget Spanish, I'm stickin' with LATIN!Read more >
