"Oriental Avenue is a good property in a good set. In the begining of the game most people land land on it or the rest of the Light Blue Properties."

"There's two cards that'll take you to GO, as well as "Advance to Boardwalk" so the blue set's quite commonly landed on. As it's cheap to develop, it's really worth getting it early on".

Summary

Oriental is more cost-effective than the brown properties, and can be even more instrumental in causing a housing shortage.

Oriental has the second-highest ROI (return on investment) in the game with a hotel, tied with Vermont Avenue. You receive $550 with the hotel and you pay $350 to build it up ($100 to purchase it initially and $250 worth of improvements). That's a $200 profit and a 157% ROI.
